Located on the end of the Cascade Mountain range, Lassen Volcanic National Park contains many types of volcanoes as well as a variety of other interesting natural formations and habitats. Encompassing 165 miles of land, the sprawling park holds more than 150 miles of hiking trails, multiple lakes for boating and fishing, eight distinct campgrounds and a 29-mile scenic road. While large parts of the park are inaccessible in winter due to closed off roads, the park is still open for activities including skiing, snowshoeing and winter camping. The 50-mile drive from Redding makes the park less visited than other large parks in the region, and the surrounding Lassen National Forest ensures unmatched solitude and privacy from the modern world.
Open 24 hours daily. Some roads closed during winter months.
Entry fee (7 day pass): Vehicle $10.
